Divine Connections by Stefan Horvath

Has God ever set up a divine connection in your work or personal life; a connection that brings an opportunity, a new relationship or a blessing?

Well, God did one of His divine connections at our last FGBA Summit in Adelaide. Geoff and Amanda Dyer happen to be back in Adelaide, taking a break from their overseas mission work and through a series of connections, they were able to join our FGBA Summit. Not having previously known Geoff and Amanda, I introduced myself and Geoff went on to tell me that he was a past State Director of FGBMFI in South Australia.

Geoff and Amanda are now with “Youth With A Mission”. “Youth With A Mission” is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), they unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known. Geoff went on to tell me that they had recently finished a season of serving YWAM in Kazakhstan and had been Called by God to continue their mission with YWAM in Riga, Latvia.

Amazingly, I mentioned that my wife and I were having a holiday with Rod and Lorna Winter, and that we would be in Riga in June and that we should catch up. And so, God set up a “divine appointment” and Rod, Lorna, Marie and I met with Geoff and Amanda in Riga. We had a special time of fellowship. Geoff and Amanda talked about their mission work in YWAM. Geoff was involved in training churches in “street evangelism”, whilst Amanda was working in various church ministries and programs. There was much reminiscing of FGBMFI ministry with Rod and Lorna, as they recalled stories of the God’s work through FGBMFI in South Australia and Malaysia.

Our time together ended in a prayer meeting and then farewells. I am sure that this will not be the last connection with Geoff and Amanda, as we stand with them in ongoing prayer and support for their work with YWAM.

In John 17:20, Jesus prays for unity of believers:
“20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

For me, it is a wonderful privilege to serve our Lord in Unity with other mission hearted ministries.

Blessings,
